How to Get Here

With three airports, direct sea crossings from Scotland and England and a direct rail link from Dublin getting to Belfast and Northern Ireland has never been easier.

By Air

You can fly direct to Belfast from over twenty European cities as well as from a number of North American locations. Belfast is served by two airports, Belfast International Airport 17 miles north west of Belfast and the George Best Belfast City Airport, three miles east of the city centre.

Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau partner airlines bmi British Midland, flyBE and Aer Lingus all operate flights into Belfast.

From Derry City Airport in the North West you can fly to a number of UK destinations

Airport Transfers

Ulsterbus provide a service from the Europa Bus Centre to both Belfast airports. Taxis can be hired outside the two airport terminal buildings and a number of car hire firms are available within the terminals. Why not arrive in style with a pre-booked Value Cab, Fonacab, Citi Cabs, or International Airport Taxis Company taxi waiting at the airport to collect you? There is no direct train service to and from Belfast International Airport but trains do run to Belfast from the nearby town of Antrim.

For George Best Belfast City Airport there is a rail service from the nearby Sydenham Station to Central Station. A shuttle bus service operates between the airport terminal and nearby rail halt at Sydenham, from where there is a twice-hourly (0600 – 1800) Monday - Friday rail service to Central Station and Great Victoria Street Station. The service is hourly after 1800hrs and on Saturday and Sunday.

The Airporter provides direct coach connections between the Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport. There are a variety of ways for you to reserve a seat on any of the Airporter services. All passengers are advised to make a reservation. Reservations are FREE, and they guarantee a seat and you only pay on the day you travel.

 

By Sea

Regular scheduled ferry services to Belfast Port and Larne Harbour in County Antrim (35 minutes drive north of Belfast) operate from Stranraer, Troon and Cairnryan in Scotland, Fleetwood and Birkenhead (Liverpool) in England and Douglas in The Isle of Man.

By Rail

An Enterprise service runs 8 times daily from Belfast to Dublin. The journey time is approximately 2 hours.

There are a number of car hire companies with offices in Belfast. Most have depots at both the Belfast International and George Best Belfast City Airports. Argus Car Rentals are both friendly and efficient with pick up and drop off points all over the island of Ireland.
