Carrickfergus

A striking feature of the landscape from land, sea and air, Carrickfergus Castle greets
all visitors with its strength and menace.

It represents over 800 years of military might and can be enjoyed by visitors wanting to learn more about its history or just looking for a fun day out in a truly exceptional setting. The recently opened Museum & Civic Centre is located in the heart of the town. Material from the Council's own civic collection, together with Carrickfergus related material on loan from both private and national collections are on display.
The Andrew Jackson Cottage highlights Carrickfergus' strong American and Ulster-Scots connections. Beside the Jackson Cottage is an exhibition dedicated to the US Rangers, the elite American
army regiment stationed in the Borough during World War II. With such a wonderful fusion of old and new, it's easy to see why many people return again and again.
